UNIGLOBE Kilimanjaro Climb · 6 September 2010

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity working to create lasting equality for girls and protect the rights of all children. Plan International works with communities in over 50 countries across the world to tackle the root causes of exclusion and injustice for all children.

Story

A UNIGLOBE British Isles team is taking on the challenge of conquering the African giant, Mount Kilimanjaro, as part of a bid to raise £35,000 for charity.

15 Volunteers will be flying the flag for UNIGLOBE British Isles for the epic climb in September in aid of the charity Plan International and its aim of building a new school and residence for girls in Tanzania. The adventure will begin on September 6 when the UNIGLOBE team flies from Heathrow to prepare for the ascent.

Plan International’s Because I Am A Girl campaign recognises the important role girls play in helping communities around the world break the cycle of poverty. Education is a key element; in fact an extra year of primary school boosts girls’ wages by 10 to 20 percent, benefitting their communities, their families and eventually their children.

The figure shown here is the group total raised by the 15 volunteers plus team donations: THEY MADE IT. So Please continue to donate and help us reach the other target.
