Story

We are a group of 8 parishioners of SS John Fisher & Thomas More, Burley in Wharfedale: Brendan Barrett, Chris Inglehearn, Tom Lally, Keith Pitcher, Colin Robertson, Joe Thompson, Andrea Westhead and Dave Westhead.

We ran in this year's Great North Run on Sunday 15 September.

Our target is to raise a total of £3000, to support Cafod and to help Callum Hall, a former pupil at our local school, St Mary’s, Menston.

In 2012 Callum was diagnosed with a rare infection: an epidural abscess in between his shoulder blades. This abscess burst and damaged his spinal cord causing him to be paralysed from the chest down. Callum underwent life-saving surgery to remove the abscess and has been undergoing treatment to remove the rest of the infection from his spinal cord; however the paralysis still remains.  Details of Callum's progress can be found at http://www.callumhalltrust.com  Callum needs support for continuing physio, equipment and care in his recovery to help him to walk again.  He has fundraised for a wheelchair but now needs to pay for expensive surgery to connect broken nerve pathways.

Please donate to Cafod from this page. Visit http://callumhalltrust.com/donate/ to donate to Callum - can you include the message 'TFM' to say it is from our run.  Of course you can donate to both of our causes!
