Thanks for visiting Team Globespan's fundraising page. The Lord of the Rings, Moses leading the slaves out of Egypt, Edmund Hillary's conquering of Everest and Keith Hutchison's commute to work.... all these epic journeys tried and tested all those involved to the limit. But they will pale into insignificance compared to what Team Globespan are soon to undertake. On the 14th day of the ninth month, in the year of our Lord 2008, 4 young-ish men will embark on a journey like no other. Lining up on Glasgow Green, helmets polished, stabilisers secured and McDonald's breakfast devoured, these modern day super-powered gladiators will attempt the gruelling 51 mile cycle back to their homes in Edinburgh. Their journey will be fraught with danger at every turn as they traverse some of the most challenging countryside in this fair land eg Coatbridge. The boys must keep their wits about them and their legs pumping if they hope to make it home with their limbs, wallets and dignity intact. "To attempt such a thing is utter madness!" you may be saying. But these men have a goal, a drive, an inspiration. With your support and encouragement we hope to raise a whole heap of money for Cancer Research UK. So please everyone give generously and with you help Team Globespan and more importantly, Cancer Research UK will be triumphant! But wait, there's more... not content with the challenge of a Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle, David Allan and Jim Killough will be pushing themselves even further. Having already completed the Edinburgh Great Run, the crazy s.o.b.s will also be running the Great Scottish Run (7th September) and the 3 Scottish Cancer Reasearch 10ks in Edinburgh (28th September), Perth (19th October) and Glasgow (26th October) So whatever you planned to donate please double it because these guys are going all out and pushing themselves until they turn a funny colour of purple in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for this amazing and important charity. Here's some stuff to read before you make your very generous donation... Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks again for visiting our page and please please sponsor us now! Team Globespan could not operate without the dedication and support of its maintenance crew "Blow Torch and a Big Spanner" - no bike problem is beyond them!
