Hi Folks, Thankyou for visiting our fundraising page for the 2009 Macmillan challenge. Pete and I are taking part in the Mac 4x4 challenge 6-8th March. Last years challenge was amazing, physically exhausting but the most amazing fun. We began the Challenge at Craven Arms in Shropshire, with our first set of map co-ordinates which have to be plotted, and clues. We made our way over some beautiful scenery towards Welshpool, further clues and co-ordinates took us from a service station through to Wales around Bala and Lake Vernwy area, it was now dark and I'm sure, judging by the the contours on the map, some stunning scenery, but tiny lanes and hidden junctions and very scary cliff drops into a midnight abyss certainly concentrated the mind. Our destination.. Holyhead and a ferry to Ireland. Excitedly we pitched up sometime in the early hours at the ferry port to catch the early morning ferry, tents and BBQ's came out as we hurried to eat and get at least a quick sleep, before the gruelling day ahead. Ireland, dry, sunny, almost refreshed but all carrying ferryhead (a fumey and slightly bileous fatigue)we tried to quickly get command of our new environment whilst hunting for clues and looking for the sneaky, just off the map, lefts that the Mac boys love to trick us with. The rule is do not follow others, especially when they are coming towards you from the other direction. One of you is wrong and, heh, being a girl its not likely to be me!! We made our way deeper into Ireland heading Northish from Dublin, string waisted farmers waved from ancient Massey fergusons, while we tried to avoid the be-trinketted, weeping Madonnas, paint peeling and pleading for our obviously lost souls, whilst hiding in rock- crevassed recesses, on the sharpest hairpin bends, waiting to rip off the bumper and fill us with Guilt. And so it was for miles as we headed towards an off road course, another challenge and then Belfast and the ferry to Stranraer. We arrived in Scotland around midnight and scrambled a further two hours towards Locherbie and instant sleepin the back of the Landy Very comfy. Ready, stowed and packed we waited at the checkpoint for 9am sharpe for our next instructions. Through huge forests and more gorgeous wild windswept views of the Scottish borders, the top of the world and finally a Newcastleton, a pint and the long convoyed drive down to Warrington, to the delightful, scenic, 7o's lounge chic of the corporate motorway hotel. AND THAT SHOWER everyone was anxious for the shower although I think a quick pint may have just pipped it. Prize giving, some laddish behaviour as the massive adrenaline of the weekend ebbed slowly away with the wine. Brilliant, a massive achievement and a wonderful experience. And now we are doing it all again. So we hope you will help to sponsor us for this amazing event for which we will be incredibly grateful. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please, all you lovely people, sponsor us now! Many thanks for your support. Pete and Bexy
