Hamish and our whole family were knocked sideways when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in January 2016,

Things moved so quickly between Hamish feeling unwell and us getting the diagnosis. The whole thing is overwhelming and the practical side of things can be hard to get your head around.

As Hamish went through treatment he was very unwell at times and  some of the chemotherapy drugs really affected his mobility and motors skill,  which was really difficult at times.

Travelling from Stranraer to Glasgow for treatment day in, day out just wasn't practical, so we stayed in the CLIC Sargent Home from Home, Marion’s House for six months. This allowed us to be together as a family and to spend much time with Hamish as possible. 

When Hamish was feeling well enough, his brother and sister
would come and stay with us at  the House too.  Just having somewhere to stay so close to the hospital took some of the pressure off and made such a big to our lives.

CLIC Sargent are the UK’s leading cancer charity for young people
and their families.  They have been supporting Hamish almost from the day he was diagnosed.  Their care teams of social workers, nurses
and play specialists have been providing support to families across Scotland and the UK for years and their Homes from Home are  a lifeline to many families going through such a difficult time.

CLIC Sargent’s mission is to ensure that everyone under 25 with cancer, and their families, gets the support and help they need during their cancer treatment and beyond.
