Did you know every day over 26,000 children are treated in hospitals and hospices in the UK? Serious illness is distressing at any age, but in children more cruelly so because it steals away childhood itself. Sick children in hospitals and hospices around the UK have the right to enjoy a carefree, fun and happy childhood despite their medical condition. Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation is the only UK wide national charity championing the cause of sick children by raising funds to improve the quality of life of children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. The Foundation funds an innovative range of projects to ensure children in hospitals and hospices have access to the very best comforts, facilities and equipment giving them a better, brighter future. These include arts, music and play therapy programs, sensory equipment and facilities, respite care, state of the art equipment and pull down beds and refreshments rooms for parents. These extra facilities not covered by statutory funding, can make an extra-ordinary difference to the lives of children and their families in hospitals and hospices. We can't stop children getting ill or cure every illness but Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation works hard to ensure that children in hospitals and hospices receive the very best care, comforts and facilities available. Team Inspiration (www.teaminspiration.org.uk) is an organisation with inspirational ambassadors to help and inspire everyone, whatever your age, that we are all 'built for greatness'. By addressing our mindset as early as possible, individuals can choose a path to energy, happiness, achievement and success.

Founding member of Team Inspiration, Jim Rees, will compete again in this years gruelling cycle race from San Diego to Annapolis in June 2009.

The Race Across America (RAAM) is the ultimate and longest annual endurance cycle race in the world and covers over 3,014 miles and is considered to be one of the toughest races on the planet.

Jim will ride solo for the 3rd time with the goal of breaking the current British record of 9 days 17 hours for the event, which will mean staying on the bike for a minimum of 22 hours per day, cycling between 250-350 miles per day.

The Team Inspiration crew are volunteers with specific skills to ensure Jim competes safely and at his optimum performance: fitness specialists, nutrition, bike mechanics as well as drivers and logistical specialists all focused on getting to the finish line as fast as possible.
