Tros Gynnal - Three Marvellous Mountains · 16 May 2009 ·

Tros Gynnal is the leading children's rights and advocacy charity in Wales. It was set up to take over the work of The Children's Society when it withdrew in 2002. Money raised will allow us to help to protect and support some of Wales' most vulnerable children and young people.

Story

"On May 16th we are going to drag our bodies up 3 of Wales' Marvellous Mountains in under 48hrs for charity - AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GIVE US YOUR MONEY!"

Bryony Passmore, Sarah Morris, Cieran Sheridan and Steve Gittins have formed a team to tackle the 3 Marvellous Mountains challenge this May 2009.  The key that links us all together is a place in the Black Mountains, South Wales, called Llanthony and so we have named our team.

Bryony grew up in the beautiful Llanthony Valley on the farm adjacent to the ruined Llanthony Priory, also a hotel and pub.  Her family also run a horse riding and trekking centre as well as various accommodation opportunities.  Having spent a lot of time riding and walking in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Bryony looks forward to the steeper challenges of the North Wales Mountains.  As Captain she is the coordinator and navigator of the team.

Sarah has been an outdoor instructor for 4 years but has recently changed to working with young people at risk of offending, she is still keen to be active but wanted longer term interaction with the people she works with. Sarah also worked at Llanthony Riding and Trekking for a season with Bryony in 2004.  Sarah is the fun fun fun fun fun.

Cieran is from London but has come to the area of Hay-on-Wye, Town of Books, to be a trainee/assistant at the Outdoor Education Centre (OEC) Trewern for his gap year.  Cieran hopes to qualify in caving, mountaineering and climbing and many more, he is the cheeky energy of the group and will be carrying us up the mountains in spirit when our bodies start to feel weary.

Steve is local to Hay-on-Wye, nestled at the bottom of the Black Mountains, and works with his family at the Black Lion Garage.  Away from work Steve spends his time with his Landrover 90 competition truck or walking with his partner Bryony.  Steve, team joker (and extra brain-power), completes the Team Llanthony.

We are all excited about taking part in the 3MM challenge and we are all actively trying to raise as much money as we can for the chosen charity Tros Gynnal and the children of Wales.
PLEASE give generously to support children in Wales.
