Team NMC 3 Peaks Challenge · 7 May 2009

NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC) supports people and families affected by neuromuscular conditions. We offer physiotherapy, training & development, support & advice, young people’s support, and ConnectUp, our social programmes, all supporting the physical and emotional well-being of our community.

Story

At 5.00pm on Saturday 15th August, a Team from The NMC will be setting off on a completely amazing/mad* adventure. In the 24 hours that follow we will climb the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales respectively. This is a total climb of around 10,000 feet and over 20 mountainous miles.

It is a small team (6) of staff and volunteers from the NeuroMuscular Centre aiming to raise at least £3000 towards running this amazing place. Want to see more about what we do? Have a look at www.nmcentre.com  5 of us are walking up the mountains and we have a volunteer driving our minibus, bouncing us around the UK’s roads whilst we imagine how lovely it would be to feel the comfort of a mattress and a warm duvet!

The more astute/awake* will already be working out that some of this expedition will take place in darkness. We expect to be starting out to climb Scafell Pike at around 3.30 am.  We aim to finish the ascent and decent of Snowdon before 5.00 pm on Sunday 16th.

With 3 weeks to go training is reaching the final phase and it would be a real boost to have your support! If you felt able to donate a few bob we’d be very grateful, perhaps an amount per mountain?

Photos, which will hopefully not feature a large yellow helicopter, will be available on the NMC website immediately after the event.
