Story

In April 2006 the three members of Team Odyssey will be taking part in the 21st Marathon des Sables.  This is a 6 day 151 mile race through the Sahara Desert, which is generally considered to be the World's toughest footrace.

Every year around 800 competitors from around the world set out to run the equivalent of one marathon a day for 6 days over open desert, rocky ground, sandy barren wilderness and mountainous dunes, in temperatures which reach 120°F/48°C .  All competitors must carry everything they need for the 6 days, except their “tent”.

This is clearly a challenge for the three of us given our advancing years and ever expanding waistlines and so to spur us on we thought we would try to raise some money for charity.  Our chosen charities are Hospice Care and Tommy’s and you can help these charities, and us,  by  sponsoring our endeavours.  Please, please, please give generously.
