Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Rach's Story:

What cosmic means to me? Dec 05 my son was rushed into hospital where he was stabilised through the night to then take a turn for the worse, he had meningococcal septicaemia. He was intubated and transfered out to St.Marys in London, i was told there was small hope he would make it, i was prepared for the worst where he just proved everyone wrong, everyone involved in my childs recovery im so grateful for, from the ambulance crew through to the  staff in the grand union ward at St.Marys where Cody was after coming through the worst of it all. There is just so many people that i feel grateful to, so this is my small way of giving something back. The staff who work in the PICU are amazing people, i am most grateful to them, if it wasnt for the nurses taking them chances and weaning him off the medication, giving him what he needs and just caring for him so much i dont know where i would be right now. For the people who know me, your know how much this kills me to write but for the people who dont ive never experienced something so hard to deal with, if it happened again to someone i knew id want them to know that there is the care and help out there and im helping a little.

Nicci's Ramble:

And that turns it over to me I guess! Yes this is my first ever 10k that doesn't have pound signs in front of it and its the hardest thing I've ever had to prepare for! I can't put into words how much of a blessing it is to have Cody in my life, he is one of the brightest (and sometimes naughtiest!) children I have ever met. I just can't imagine my life without him. When he was in hospital there was nothing I could do to help him and that feeling of helplessness is more heart wrenching than anything you can imagine. Now that he is fully recovered I can't thank the staff at St. Mary's enough for saving him. Rach, Marc and the kids have all been so strong through this trauma and such an inspiration to me. This 10k is a very small way for me to give something back and help the families and children that will be unfortunate enough to be hit by Meningitis in the future, but at the same time lucky enough to receive the first rate care that St. Mary's provide. So dig out your wallet and give whatever you can to spur us on and make a difference to the lives of hundreds of children across the UK.  It really is that simple. Rach and I have the hard part of actually making it to the finish line now!

Kelly's Story:

Cody.. Wow what can i say?! this is so hard to write without spilling out the tears! what a gorgeous lil nephew i have, really don't know what i'd do without this amazing lil fella! He was such a lil fighter when he was ill, and i really can't believe how strong he is! I've never known such an amazing, happy, loving lil boy and i am soooo lucky he is my Nephew. x X x The Story.. when xmas 05 came, we were all so happy and looking forward to Cody's first xmas that he was old enough to understand. But when we were told that Cody had meningococcal septicaemia, i couldn't believe it. At that moment everything just stopped and i just burst in to tears, nothing else seemed to matter, but the thought that was in my head was i had to see my baby nephew, i had to be by his side!! We're were all so upset sitting beside Cody's hospital bed. My tears never stopped. The Staff at St Mary's were brilliant, they saved my lil nephew's life and i can't thank them enough i really can't! I know this 10k run will be hard, but i will try my very best in completing it.... Now this is my chance to help the staff of St Mary's and say Thank You! So please, please dig deep and take just 2 minutes of your time to sponsor us in this run, and help children just like our lil Cody pull through life threatening diseases. x X x
