Welcome to the Barking Bells, our team of staff and residents who will be running (or maybe jogging or even power walking!!!!) in the adidas 5k Women's Challenge in Hyde Park on 11th September raising money for Anchor House in Canning Town.
We are specifically raising money to build a move-on flat which will be part of the building plans for the newly refurbished Anchor House. By 2013 we hope to have completed the building plans for Anchor House itself and we will have 25 move-on flats altogether.
Each flat costs £176,000. They are studio apartments designed for Anchor House residents who have secured a job and want to move on but are not quite ready for the challenge of independent living and would welcome having some support until such time as they are ready to take that final step and move back into the community.
Not that we ever say goodbye to anybody. We have been in Canning Town since 1962 and we expect to be here for another 50 years.
