WE DID IT! - 14 teams, 41 participants, 4 completing all three legs as individuals, 100+ supporters cheering us on, fundraising targets exceeded in advance and still rising (£28K), a high profile picnic pitch, one purple peril (with horn) and zero need for medical help on the day!
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated and those who came along on the day; either as a supporter, helper, and most of all to those of you who participated.Thank you also to LLR and LCF for all their behind the scenes support.
Final funds are being collected but we have exceeded our target and pain thresholds. Keep in touch at http://www.cordwainers.org/
How did it go in detail? Well our swimmers started off in a wave of over 200 participants shortly before 1pm. The breeze made the water quite choppy and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who swallowed more of Blenheim lake than I originally intended to.... After trying to avoid either being kicked, or swimming off course, the swimmers finally made it to dry land, only to be rewarded by a steep 400m uphill run back to the transition zone. Changeovers were brief and gratefully received, and soon the cyclists were off on their 3 laps of the parkland. The hills were steep and the competitiveness was gaining momentum, largely thanks to the wonderful supporters positioned around the track at various points. The cyclists rode past the Cordwainers tent full of supporters three times, and I am told that the never-ending chorus of cheers and clapping encouraged them to pedal faster and faster as the laps counted down. Another quick turnaround in transition and the runners were off on the final leg.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research provided a lot of infrastructure on the day, and to them we are eternally grateful. We also want to say thank you to the LCF who paid for our polo shirts, which we distributed to all participants on the day, designed by Hester Williams.
