Firstly, welcome to our page.
Before I start can I assure you that you are in the right place to support Thomas, Adam, Eric and Ben.
You have arrived here because we are fund raising for two brilliant causes; one is the MS Society and the other is Melonoma Focus. Both charities are extremely close to our hearts and you can read more on the charities and what they do by going into their individual page, which you'll find at the bottom of this main page.
So why are four friends cycling 950 miles in 9 days? We're afraid we don't really have a good answer to this! It all gathered pace rather quickly and before we knew it Adam had planned the route, booked flights and arranged transport to John O'Groats. The point of no return had been crossed.
No bother though cycling is pretty easy isn't it?
Actually no.
Our aim is 100+ miles per day for 9 consecutive days, at an average speed of 13-15mph. According to Active.com research, and if you were to convert that equivilant effort into runing, it would be the same as completing a marathon each day. So cycling from John o Groats to Lands End is comparable to completing a marathon every day for nine straight days!
To quote the words of Thomas, one of the peleton: "If it had been sold to me like that three months ago, I would have politely declined."Another friend, who is infamous for being 6th best in everything he does, has warned us of dark, dark days ahead.
We're sure he is correct. However the pain we will go through pales into insignificance when compaired with the effect that Cancer or MS has on a person's life, this becomes particularly evident when it is people that are close to you. The knowledge that we are helping fight these horrible diseases will be an amazing motivation to all of us.
Your hard earned pounds will go to a brilliant home, you are doing something wonderful.
