At first light on Friday 10th June 2011, 16 Cargill Manchester employees will begin a relay ride from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, cycling a distance of almost 900 miles.
Accompanied by 3 support drivers and 2 vans, they will brave the elements, traffic, dogs, potholes and Friday night revellers as they pedal non-stop for a total of 48 hours to reach their destination at the Scottish coast.
Why are they doing this, you may ask? Cargill Manchester’s “Cargill Cares” Council have made a commitment to raise £20,000 for charity as part of their celebrations to mark 100 years of glucose production at their site on the side of the Manchester Ship Canal in Trafford Park, Manchester.
The Land’s End to John O’ Groats ride is specifically to raise money for Henshaws, a local specialist charity providing expert support, advice and training to anyone affected by sight loss. Any money raised will go directly to them so that they can help to give people in the Manchester area a more independent lifestyle and give them the skills and education to become productive members of the local community.
Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails.
