Have you ever noticed that raising money tends to stem from a story that tugs at your heart? This is true of us. Some months ago, 2 fabulous people who had waited for what seemed like forever, had a little girl. They didn't know she was poorly until she was born because unlike Downs Syndrome or Spina Bifida, her illness cannot be diagnosed in-utero. Scarlett has EB or to give it it's full name, Epidermolysis Bullosa.
"EB is a very rare genetic condition in which the skin and internal body linings blister at the slightest knock or rub, causing painful, open wounds. EB is likely to affect 1 in 17,000 live births and it is estimated that there are currently 5,000 people with the condition in the UK. It is an inherited condition, passed on genetically and no prior warning is given".
A group of us have decided to set outselves a personal and physical challenge. We are going to walk the 3 Yorkshire Peaks and try to do complete it in 13 hours. No easy feat let me tell you as we are not seasoned hikers, mountain climbers or even long distance walkers!!
