Swings & Smiles was founded in 2007 to raise sufficient money to build, equip and run an indoor and outdoor recreational facility for children with special needs and their families. Enjoying time together is something most families take for granted but rarely happens when there is a child with special needs in the family putting extra pressure on these families. Comprising of both indoor and outdoor facilities, Swings & Smiles promises to be a welcoming, bright, fun and safe place that is busy all year round. There are estimated to be over 2,000 children with special needs in West Berkshire alone who will benefit from the Swings & Smiles facility. We would love to purchase specialist cycling equipment for Swings & Smiles from this charity bike ride so that children visiting can enjoy the pleasures most children have from riding a bike. Such equipment is very expensive; a wheelchair bike costs over £4k, a Micah trike £1k, a twin taxi trike £380 and a 3-wheel scooter £205.
