She was immediately taken into special care where she spent the first four weeks of her short life. This time felt like a rollercoaster ride with many ups and downs but sadly at the end of those four weeks we received the devastating news that Scarlett’s life was limited and we needed to consider our options.

We decided to visit Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester where we were greeted and shown around by staff who made us feel very welcome. The facilities available to us were excellent and staff were very supportive but we made the decision to take Scarlett home where she belonged.

It wouldn’t have been possible to take Scarlett home without the support of the very special and caring Orchard Nurses and Acorns staff who were both on call 24/7. With their support we were able to spend two very special weeks at home with our precious daughter as a family. During this time Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles were also able to spend some quality time with their special little girl and we now have some lovely photographs and treasured memories to reflect on.

One year on and we have decided that we would like to raise money for Acorns by participating in and arranging a number of events. With many family and friends we are going to be climbing Snowdon, walking the Droitwich/Worcester canal circuit, dancing along to a Zumbathon and participating in the Acorns 10km Midnight Walk in Birmingham.

If you would like to get involved then please get in touch with a member of Team Scarlett and we will give you the details. If you’re unable to take part please donate now to such a worthwhile local charity.

Thank you again, with much love from Scarlett’s Mummy and Daddy xx

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
