<p><span style="color: #ff00ff;"> <div><span style="font-family: Calibri;"> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">On 14th February 2011 I lost a very great friend in Siobhan (Shiv) Cavanagh who died following an 11 month battle with leukemia. Shiv was a beautiful, kind and loving friend who always seemed to keep calm no matter what happened.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">You just couldn't help but like Shiv, it was impossible not to.&nbsp;Her funeral was a complete sell out as literally hundreds of family, friends, colleagues&nbsp;and even the nurses who had cared for her, attended Preston Crematorium to say their goodbyes and celebrate her life.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">It is for&nbsp;the nurses, doctors&nbsp;and all other members of staff that looked after Shiv&nbsp;that I have become an honorary member of 'Team Shiv' and created this page. They cared and worked tirelessly for Shiv during her fight and their efforts were hugely appreciated by Shiv and all her family. </span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">All funds raised will be donated to Blackpool Victoria Hospital's&nbsp;Haematology Ward and by raising this&nbsp;money for the ward we can hopefully help to ensure that future patients receive the same high standard of care.</span> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">'Team Shiv' was set up in Shiv's memory by her&nbsp;fianc&eacute;, Neil 'Bonty' Bontoft.&nbsp;Under it's name people have&nbsp;cycled, run,&nbsp;danced, drunk and spent&nbsp;for Team Shiv&nbsp;and so far thousands have been raised for the hospital's <span style="color: #0000ff;">Blue Skies Foundation <span style="color: #ff00ff;">charity.</span></span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">So for my part I have decided to take part in this year's 'Run Preston 10km&nbsp;Road Race' which takes place on Sunday 25th September&nbsp;2011.</span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">As those who know me will no doubt agree, athleticism is not something that comes naturally to me so this will be a real challenge. I have set a target of completing the 10km in under 50 minutes which, if you've seen the course, is a decent time indeed. Also as a Prestonian, doing anything that&nbsp;helps an organisation in Blackpool is not easy!</span></p> <p><span style="color: #ff00ff;">If you knew Shiv, and even if you didn't, please give generously to this wonderful cause.
