Story
Hi there
Firstly, thanks for getting this far and onto our fundraising page.
Gary, Simon, Nick, David, Jo, Lisa and Jane are all planning on doing the London to Southend Bike ride on July 18 - all 59 long miles of it !
We are doing this to raise funds for a fantastic good cause - the Southend Special Care Baby Unit.
They do a tremendous job at looking after the smallest and most vulnerable babies - and if we can help in a small way to contribute to their running costs, it would be a massive help for those parents whose precious bundles of joy are entrusted to this very caring and vital bunch of Doctors and Nurses.
Gary and Jane have good reason to be part of this fundraising - Henry Simmonds was born last year, 10 weeks early, weighting 3lb 1oz. He then spent the next 5 weeks of his life at Southend Special Care Baby Unit. Apart from the worry this bought his parents, one of the unexpected early concerns was where they were going to care for him, this was due to the lack of incubators at Southend Hospital.
At one point it looked as if Henry would be moved to the nearest available hospital in Norwich over 80 miles away. Due to this, we have decided to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Southend Hospital. Your donations will help care for other sick children, like Henry in their time of need.
All we ask is you dig deep and give us as much money as you can.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Best Regards
Gary, Jane, Nick, Simon, Jo, Lisa and David
