"Sponsors needed for 3000 mile, cross-continental, 16 day charity dash in a 145cc hairdryer slash milk float"

The 2008 Rickshaw Run begins on the 1st January and we need YOUR help! To raise money for the MERCY CORPS we will be driving a motorised rickshaw (power output of 7 hp) from Kochi (Southern India) to Kathmandhu (Nepal) through 3000 miles of terrain that makes Mordor look like Regents park. We will be trying to do this in 16 days and your donations will be our justification for attempting this preposterous adventure.

THE TEAM - Matthew and Laura have been driving rickshaws for about 75 years. Their most recent trip saw them successfully complete the first ever rickshaw assisted assault on the North Pole including the emergency relocation of no less than 8 polar bears. Another amazing achievement to add to their successful South Pole attempt of 1956 and the remarkable ‘Everest Rickshaw Odyssey’ of 2001. Who among us will ever forget the images of a humble rickshaw parked on top of the world’s tallest mountain........!? Actually we have no rickshaw experience whatsoever. Like a buffalo learning to roller blade we will be attempting something very new and very challenging.

Please help make our risk and folly worthwhile.

NB We have paid all the logistical costs already. We just need money for our charity and all donations go direct to the Mercy Corps (who operate at > 90% resource allocation). To find out more please visit www.snailpace.net.
