WE ALL DID IT!!! PLEASE KEEP THE SPONSORSHIP COMING!
Hello lovely people,
Firstly, thank you a thousand times for taking the time to click on the link and visit our sponsorship page... We all know how many fundraising emails we get these days and it can be tough to know which ones to support, as very few of us can support them all; even though we'd like too.
Hopefully, you've clicked on the link and found yourselves here because you know at least one of us well enough that we would not ask you for a penny of your money unless we truly believed that the cause was worthy enough and the task challenging enough.
As most of you will know, we are all a masochistic bunch and often like to take part in different challenges and events and usually we do not ask you for anything apart from your support. Unfortunately, this time, things are a bit extreme even by our standards (well maybe not Bruce's)...
So The Challenge…We are going to travel to Zurich to complete our first ever Ironman! For those of you who don't know what this involves, it is a; 2.4 mile swim , followed by a 112 mile bike ride, topped off with a run, a marathon (26.2 miles) to be precise (see the video for a better idea). Hopefully, you will think that maybe that is worth a few bob for a good cause? We genuinely mean that as well... If you could spare even a few pounds, that would be amazing... Please don't be put off by the amounts other people have given, just please give what you can.
The most important aspect however, is the reason we have decided to clog up your in-boxes, facebook walls and twitter feeds and ask you to support us raising money for the charity Brainwaves...
Our good friends, Sam and his wife Sarah have a beautiful baby girl called Evie who has, unfortunately, suffered from epilepsy all her life. The seizures are obviously incredibly tough on little Evie and have slowed her development.
This can be incredibly hard on the parents and families. Thankfully, there are amazing charities like Brainwaves out there who can offer support and hope. Evie has benefited hugely from paediatric physiotherapy and occupational therapy provided by Brainwaves, which have helped to reduce the number of seizures she has and also to improve her development significantly. Please click on the link and visit their website to learn more.
It is small independent charities like Brainwaves which can really, really make a difference to people's lives, but are also so dependent on your generosity and support. We promise you that we will beat this challenge, assuming no-one falls off their bike (Lowry), so please, please do take the time to give us, Evie and Brainwaves anything you can!
Thanks for much for taking the time to read through the essay and thanks you for your donation. Wish us luck…
Man hugs from,
Team Sparta (Matt Whale, Nic Lowry, Adam French, Bruce Wright)
