Please help us, to help children with cancer!.
The following editorial (& featured picture), which has recently been published in the Melksham News and a similar feature which was also published in the Wiltshire Times, explains why;

“A TEAM of three men from Melksham will drive a car, which cost just £200, over a 1,000 miles as part of the Barcelona Banger Rally, aiming to raise half of their £10,000 target for CLIC Sargent, the cancer charity.
The group is known as “Team T” in honour of Tamara (known to all as ‘T’) who was just five years old when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in March 2007.

T’s family have found the support they receive from the CLIC Sargent charity, extremely helpful in coping with her illness.
They said, “The ongoing support we receive is fantastic, the CLIC staff at the hospital are wonderful and always on hand if we need anything.
Tamara’s family and friends have now formed a group, appropriately called, “Team T” based in Melksham whose sole purpose is to raise £10,000 to donate to the CLIC Sargent Charity as a thank you for their invaluable support.
On 18th July, “Team T” will be taking part in the Barcelona Banger Rally in an attempt to raise half of their £10,000 target.
The team will be driving over 1,000 miles from Calais, down through central France, over the Alps, across the French Riviera and then on to Barcelona in a car purchased for £200!
For their £200 they gained a bright red Volvo 850T5 complete with a cargo of builder’s rubble, half an exhaust system and a number of electrical and mechanical problems, the car had not moved for over six months but will, with a lot of hard work, be ready for the off in July, fingers crossed!
