Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have decided to train and run the Great North Run to help fundraise for the MND Association - a cause close to our hearts.
Tony Thompson (Sarah's dad), from Keswick, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in December 2016. It is a horrific, rare, disease that affects the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what do to. It progressively damages parts of the nervous system leading to muscle weakness and wasting. There is no cure.
We hate watching Tony suffer - unable to do all the day to day things we take for granted, like eat, speak and move - and we want to do something to raise awareness and help the fight against this horrific disease.
A few years ago (before having their daughter Lottie), Tom and Sarah used to do a little bit of exercise and could occasionally be found on the hills or riding their bikes. However, they're both currently couch potatoes after life got in the way of training. Getting their bums off the sofa to train is in no way going to be easy, however, we're determined, as there is no better cause than this.
Tom deserves extra credit for allowing Sarah to cajole him into joining her to run for Team Tony...with less than 12 weeks to train! Eeeeak!!!!!
If anyone can spare a pound for this fantastic cause we'd be most grateful.
