Team: Remembering Wayne Wilson
Wayne David Wilson was born on 16th November 1984. He has 2 brothers, Shaun and Carl and a sister, Becky.
Sadly, at the age of just 26, Wayne lost his battle with Leukaemia on 3rd Jan 2011. Wayne lived in Cricklade and went to Bradon Forest School. Friends and family will remember his cheeky smile and mischievious sense of humour.
On 18th December 2010, after having been diagnosed with the Leukaemia and told it was not treatable, Wayne married his childhood sweetheart – Sammy Cole. It was a fairytale white wedding with a beautiful service attended by several hundred people!
Wayne & Sammy have a gorgeous daughter, Katelyn. Before Wayne passed away, he and Sammy were able to put together a “Memory Box” for when she’s older, including photos and birthday cards up to her 21st birthday as well as a wedding card for her own special day.
Wayne will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but “Team Wayne” has been setup to honour his brave fight against Leukaemia and to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, so that his courageous attempt to beat the disease will not have been in vain.
About Us – Team Wayne
Team Wayne all come from Wayne’s hometown of Cricklade in North Wiltshire. Led by family friend Damien Davis, the rest of our team is made up of Carl Wright (Wayne’s brother), Kevin Giles, Kevin Midgeley, James Bowyer and Mike Murray.
We came together after Wayne’s tragic passing and decided we wanted to raise funds for chairty in his memory. In April 2011 we attempted the Three Peaks Challenge. Things didn’t quite go to plan and our story appeared in the national press!
Since then, Damien has been nominated by Kay to carry the Olympic Torch and will proudly representing Team Wayne on 11th July 2012 in Ludgershall, Wiltshire!
