My story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

On July 11th 2009 team Young and Stupid (Stephen Mc Carthy and Andy Heaphy) will be leaving London (After a journey from Waterford) to drive approximately 11,000 miles to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia. When we arrive there we will donate our vehicle to CDPF, a charity aimed at helping local children.

We also want to raise money for projects that Save The Children run in the local area. Last year Save The Children helped to improve the quality of education of 12,125 pre- and primary school Mongolian children by training 485 preschool teachers in child-centred teaching methods.   Additionally they enabled 2,593 poor, nomadic, minority ethnic and disabled children to go to pre- and primary school by setting up kindergartens and providing mobile teachers.

Save The Children also work to protect vulnerable children from harm.  Last year in Mongolia they provided social work, family reunification, recreation and counselling services for 4,500 children. They also provided physiotherapy, massage, play and exercises for 48 disabled children and their families, and a further 2,000 disabled children benefited from training and information that Save The Children gave to their parents and carers.

Basically we are driving over 11,000 miles From Waterford (IRELAND) to Ulaan Baatar (MONGOLIA) this will see us cover all of Europe ,then down and across Turkey, Iran, Turkemesistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia and finally Mongolia. We should drive across 3 mountain ranges, multiple rivers, endless dirt roads and more derest than we can even imagine.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Save the Children gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now! So we can hel Save the Children !!! :-)
