Story
Derby County Football Club has selected Derby Hospitals Children's Hospital as its dedicated charity appeal for the remainder of the 2009/2010 season.
The partnership between Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Derby County Football Club kicked off with a launch event in November 2008 at the new Derby City General Hospital. The club along with Derby Hospitals Charitable Trust supported the Teen Pride appeal over the course of 2008/2009 to raise money towards new facilities and equipment for teenage patients who visit the Children's Hospital at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Teen Pride saw some successful events in 2009 including the Carsington Reservoir Sponsored Walk, the Mensgroom charity shave, Derby County v Bristol City designated charity game and the Teen Pride Gala Ball.
The charity successfully raised it's £40,000 target after the Gala Ball held in December 2009. Derby County have decided to continue forward with phase 2 of the Teen Pride Appeal to raise a further £20,000 for further refurbishments for teenage patients who visit the Children’s Hospital at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Derby County's goalkeeper Stephen Bywater will continue to be the charity's ambassador, look out for upcoming fundraising events such as the Derby County v Swansea City charity game on 20th February 2010.
