Story

UPDATE: Champions of the DofE High Atlas Challenge
The team finally emerged, having fought off some stiff competition, victorious as champions of the Duke of Edinburgh Award High Atlas Challenge. The other teams were of a high standard the atmosphere has been great. Though we established our lead after the second day (debatable scoring on the first day), the points gap was constantly fluctuating and had us looking over our shoulders worried about the next challenge.  For more information and pictures join the facebook group or speak to a team member.

High Atlas Challenge, September 2009
When: 29th September - 4th October 2009
Where: High Atlas Mountains, Morocco
What: Biking, hiking, 4x4 driving and survival team challenges
Who: Duncan Codd, Andrew Gowans, Chris People & Jamie Codd

The High Atlas Mountains run 1,500 miles from the southern tip of Morocco through arid Algeria to northern Tunisia and the Sahara desert. The challenge is to cross this dramatic mountain range by foot, bike and 4x4 in less than four days.

Starting the adventure in the south west corner of Morocco in Ourzazate we will journey over the High Atlas to reach the capital city of Marrakech.

We will be racing up to 30 miles per day by bike and completing survival and logistical challenges en route to win points. The team will be tested both physically and mentally during this challenge to win the DofE Morocco Trophy.

We will be largely self sufficient within the team; with a vehicle to carry tents, bikes and any other equipment that we will need. Each night will be spent camped in the barren terrain of the Sahara desert.
