Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.......and especially to everyone who has contributed towards helping me achieve my fundraising target!!!
I did it!! (Four hours and twenty eight minutes)
I ran the 2008 London Marathon to raise funds for St. Wilfrid's Hospice, Chichester, UK which is near where I live.
The Hospice provides care and support for the community when people need it most.
Many, many volunteers selflessly devote time and effort to raise funds to enable the Hospice to carry out its work. Running the London Marathon coupled with your generosity gave me the chance to be one of them.
We have all lost people close to us through cancer or other life limiting diseases. Within the space of a few weeks in the Summer of 2007 both my father-in-law, Laurie Williams and my step father Frank Davis passed away. My run in the 2008 London Marathon was dedicated to them.
Thank you.
Many thanks to everyone who has made a donation so far either online or offline through the sponsorship forms! Offline sponsors include my mother, Frances Davis, my children Kate and Nick.
The congregation of St. Mary's Church, Sidlesham, West Sussex who contributed £510.
In addition Bill and Val Payne have also made a very generous donation of £100.
Thanks also to everyone at Hamworthy Heating where I work sponsored me to the tune of £448. A special mention to Maureen and Yvette and their powers of persuasion!
Jane Philips and Marjorie Lytton have each donated £20
In addition to everyone mentioned above I have had the good fortune to meet lots of new friends on my travels recently particularly in Milan, Paris, Ulm, Hong Kong (thanks Joe!) and China.
Thanks for your suport and encouragement
Just brilliant!!!
Plus a particular mention to Dee Bedford who has bravely professed to keeping an eye on my updates to this website.
Dee, you are too kind and it makes all the difference to know that I'm not alone and that the thriving web community for this page is now a total of two people!
....and the training involved? Between August 5th 2007 and 9th April 2008 I completed 76 training runs in the course of which I ran a total distance of 462 miles in 68 hours and 10 minutes.
Thank you, everyone!!!
