Story

Hi guys!

You may all be wondering what has possessed me......well I have wondered the same thing at times.  Basically, I've always wanted to go to Peru ever since finding out where Paddington came from!  From the photos I have seen, Machu Picchu looks amazing and I thought a trek would do it justice.  Yes it will be a challenge and I will have to get in shape as the trip will involve a number of days trekking on rough terrain and at high altitude.  I am also asthmatic, so it's even more important that I get myself fit.   As some of you know, my most treasured possession is my bed and one of my favourite pastimes is sleeping!!  To get me into shape, I need something to aim for so this should do the trick.

The charity I will be raising money for is The Eve Appeal (see info to the left).  Some of you may not have heard of it and, to be honest, neither had I until earlier this year.  A close family member recently had a tumour removed from her ovary.  Thankfully, it was detected early and turned out to be benign.  However, she also had to have the affected ovary removed.  As with the majority of cases that are found early, her tumour was only discovered through tests for something else.

Through research into ovarian tumours, she came across The Eve Appeal.  Ovarian cancer symptoms are not obvious in the early stages so it's often too late when it is detected.  7000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year, 5000 of those die!  That's a horrendous statistic so I feel The Eve Appeal is a charity worth supporting.  For more info, visit www.eveappeal.org.uk.

My fundraising target is £3400 so EVERY LITTLE HELPS!  If you would like to help me by making a donation then please follow the 'DONATE NOW' link.  The trek will be a challenge but I have this mountain to climb first before I even get to Peru.  I will be doing various fundraising activities to help me reach my target and I will put updates at the bottom of this page to let you know what I'm up to and how I'm going.  If any of you have any great fundraising ideas then please let me know.

Thanks again for visiting my fundraising page.
