In November, we trekked in the jungle of Thailand to raise as much money as possible for the Over The Wall Gang Camp.
The youngsters who attend this camp gain in confidence and independence. They make friends and draw strength from others facing similar challenges. But, above all, they have tremendous fun. The camp relies completely on charitable donations, which enable them to provide free places.
We pledged to raise a minimum of £5,000 and, consequently, had our begging bowl out, asking everyone to dig deep into their pockets.
Edexcel's Marketing & Communications Division created, recorded and designed a 5-track Charity CD at a team-building awayday, which raised a total of £1,387.31.
We held six themed Quiz Evenings with Raffles, which raised a total of £1149:00! Thanks to: Ross and Gareth, our quizmasters and question-writers; Sarah, Mandi and Mo our cooks; Shirley, our enumerator; Monica & John, our raffle ticket folders; St. Luke's, Tunbridge Wells, for the loan of the church hall; and everyone else who helped out.
Liz and Tina held a breakfast and sold bacon and sausage in a roll whilst watching a video of our China trek at Tonbridge Jobcentre and raised £65:00. A viewing of the China trek video was also held at Tunbridge Wells Jobcentre, where bacon sandwiches were on sale, raising a total of £51:00. Generous donations at Uncle Bert's 90th birthday party raised £117:92! Shirley and Carole held a garage sale raising £92:40. Melanie held a fund raising barn dance and raised a magnificant £374:38! We have received £1037:00 in offline donations and sponsorship. We also had a generous donation from the Colefax Charitable Trust.
