Story
The idea for having this Bridal March event came about after a friend's Mum was diagnosed with dementia. The impact on her family has been devastating. Dementia affects thousands of couples/partnerships around the UK each year. So to reflect this, we want to get as many people as possible in bridal wear to highlight that dementia effects families and friends, but invariably, it is the spouse/partner who becomes the primary carer.
The relationship my friend's Mum has with her family has been slowly eroded as the disease has taken hold. The Weekend Daycare Centre in Stockport makes a massive difference to how families cope and live with this awful and increasingly widespread disease. They offer much needed respite for carers and a safe and happy evironment for people living with dementia.
Your help will enable this unique weekend provision to continue its excellent work making a positive difference to the lives of these families.
To participate: Don a veil, grab a bouquet or if you're game...dig out your wedding dress! Gents and children are more than welcome (in appropriate attire!) to join us on the march through Stockport....Remember your trainers!!
To participate contact Tracey on 07872 446642 or Jo (Centre Manager on 07828 031 443). Sponsor forms are available or pledge £10 on the day.
Starts at 10.30am on Saturday 7th July from Greatmoor Junior School, Stockport. We'll march to sainsbury's in Hazel Grove for a bag packing session. The Reception will then take place at The Ash Tea Rooms (Manchester Road, Heaton Norris) from 2pm where the raffle draw and presentation of the funds raised will be made to The Weekend Daycare Centre For Dementia Care.
