We believe that all pets should have access to veterinary care – regardless of their owners’ financial situation. Over 100 years, we’ve helped more than 20 million sick and injured pets – providing life-saving vet care to more vulnerable pets than any other animal charity in the UK today.

Story

London Marathon - just a short jog

Completing the London Marathon will feel like a stroll in the park for Steve Broadbent (43), as, by the time he crosses the finish line, Steve will have run 220 miles in 8 days.

Steve is one of eleven people who will take part in the inaugural Run Paris to London Challenge, which involves taking part in the Paris Marathon on 6 April, running from Paris to London and then competing in the London Marathon on 13 April. The runners will cover approximately 28 miles per day and the only stretch of the journey that will not be covered on foot is crossing the channel, which will be done by ferry.

As an extra incentive to complete the challenge, Steve is raising sponsorship money for PDSA, Britain’s leading veterinary charity. "I was wearing a PDSA running vest when I finished the London Marathon in 1997 with a personal best time of 2:54 and this has become my good luck charm," he said.

As a pet owner, Steve is well aware of the pressure an unexpected vet’s bill can put people under. "I know how difficult it is for people who can’t afford vets’ bills. PDSA is there to help both pets and people and I want to support them," he added.

After he has recovered from the Run Paris to London Challenge, Steve will be back on his feet, running in the classic 145 mile Grand Union Canal Race, again to raise money for PDSA.

Please sponsor him online.
It's the most efficient way for him to raise funds for my charity. If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you. Both Steve and the PDSA really appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously!
