The Star Inn, Penzance Defibrillator Campaign

The Star Inn and the community, in partnership with AEDdonate, is raising funds to install a public access defibrillator (PAD) in the community. This essential life-saving device will be available to community, staff, and visitors in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Why a Defibrillator outside The Star Inn Is So Important

Each year in the UK, over 30,000 people suffer a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) outside of a hospital. Tragically, 620 of these are people under the age of 35, and 270 of them are children, often while at school or in public places.

When a defibrillator is used within the first 3 minutes of an SCA, survival chances rise to over 80%. That’s why having a defibrillator at The Star Inn could be the difference between life and death.

How a Defibrillator Will Help the Community

Once installed, the defibrillator will be registered with the local ambulance trust and available for 24/7 public use.

This doesn’t replace emergency services. Instead, it provides immediate, potentially life-saving intervention while the ambulance is enroute. The quicker the shock is delivered, the greater the chance of survival.
