Story
James is a gorgeous and much loved 2 year old little boy. In January 2010 he was diagnosed with Batten Disease a rare neurodegenerative disease. Batten's disease is a cruel and fatal illness and the type James has (Early Infantile) means that he probably won't live until his 5th birthday.
His sister Ruby was born in November 2009 and had a one in four chance of also having the disease. After a very nervous wait for test results his parents and our dear friends Amanda and Ian received the bittersweet news that she doesn't have Batten Disease but they will have to wait for tests to see if she is a carrier of the gene.
Batten's is a cruel disease that is always fatal. Because it is relatively rare it is incredibly hard to find information and support about it. There is also very little research and awareness of this cruel disease.
We ran the London 10k on the 11th July to raise money for the Batten Disease Family Association but also to raise awareness of the disease. Thanks loads to all the kind people who sponsored us and all your messages of support on the day, they meant a lot. Thank you to Astra Zeneca who donated their tea and cake money. We are extremely grateful.
Please donate to this incredibly worthwhile cause.
Thanks loads,
Sarah and Sarah
