Story
SSAFA are a fantastic organisation that provide practical and welfare support to servicemen, their families and the wider service community. Their motto is: One day's service, a lifetime of support, proving that they serve both serving and former personnel.
In recognition of SSAFA's hard work, a team of RAF Airmen based at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall and calling themselves The 3 Amigos are taking part in a 280 mile cycle ride from Culdrose to their parent unit of RAF Benson in Oxfordhire. The ride is starting on 1st July and is planned to take 3 days in total.
They have already been raising money locally by collecting in supermarkets and organising a charity RAF vs. Royal Navy football match.
The cyclists are John Cowan, Toby Masters and James Cooper and will be supported on route by Stu Hicks. The money that they raise will stay in Cornwall and will be used to help the local forces communities.
SSAFA have helped me personally after I suffered serious injuries in an accident in Afghanistan 2 years ago. Myself and my family have had a SSAFA support worker with us every step of the way through my recovery and rehabilitation and they have supplied us with everything from family support to a weekend away and even helping to find me more suitable employment within the RAF.
