Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK. The carers, researchers and healthcare professionals. The family, friends and fundraisers. United by a clear vision: a future free from arthritis. One in which no one is limited by the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis can cause.

Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page and for sponsoring our efforts.

The three of us are preparing to run the 2010 London Marathon for our chosen charity Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC).  Below is a comment from each of us.

Craig

This is my first ever marathon. In fact, until 2 years ago the furthest I had ever run in one go was the 1500 metres at school. It is safe to say that running does not come naturally to me!!!!
So why do a marathon: Well, because I thought I would never be able to achieve such a feat; and decided to prove my self wrong.

I couldn’t think of a better cause than ARC to be running for. Arthritis is very prevalent in my family. My brother has suffered with the condition since the age of 2 and at the age of 26, he has already had 2 hip replacement and one knee replacement as a direct result of the damage the disease has caused.

Martyn

This is my first marathon too.  I do a lot of running to keep fit but this is a step into the unknown. I had a place 15 years ago and did too much training, ending up having a knee operation so never actually took part. The knee is fine now and I'm carrying a bit less weight (and hair) so hoping it goes well this time. My dad and sister have both run a marathon so there's some family rivalry to settle.

I have relatives with arthritis and have seen the pain and discomfort it causes them so I'm really happy to be supporting this worthwhile cause

Pete

For some crazy reason this is marathon number 5 for me and I am certain it will be my last London (although I think I may of said that before).  This will be the third year I have run for Arc and I thank you for helping me support a great charity who do a lot of great work in researching an illness that effects so many both young and old.
