Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  Please dig deep and put a few pence into sponsoring me running the 10k London Run on the 1st of July and the (similarly 10k) Great Capital Run on the 15th of July.

Any money raised for Marie Curie will make a real difference. It will help towards paying for Marie Curie Cancer Care Nurses to continue their work caring for people who are terminally ill with cancer within their own homes.

This means that people can spend the final few weeks or days of their lives in the warmth and comfort of their own home with their family and friends around them.

Marie Curie Nurses offer individual practical and emotional care and support to the patient and their family.  This service is completely free of charge to anyone who needs it but costs the charity £20 an hour. So for every £160 raised by this page, will go towards paying for a whole night shift of care in a person’s home.

According to the nice chaps who run JustGiving, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor my fund-rasing as Marie Curie Cancer Care will receive the money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So, again, put aside £5, £10, £20 or even more.. as it really is a good cause.

Many thanks for your support, Paul McQuillan.
