Well - it was tough and a long day, but we did it!

Dave was the first to finish in just under 3.5 hrs which was a great acheivment  - the rest of us finished at the 5 hr mark which is still a very good effort.

Thank you to those who have supported us and our charity to complete the challenge, however there is still time to donate if you havn't yet had the chance. Please remember that for every penny you donate it will be doubled through matched funding from the business.

The Alpine Challenge is a mental and physical challenge over the course of 3 days in the French Alps, the main event being a 17 mile off road/mountain run. There are 6 of us competing as a team to raise money for the Samaritans organisation

THE ALPINE CHALLENGE

The first challenge of the weekend is a timed 4-man raft race down a grade 4 river, a 3 mile race will incorporate obstacles and tasks, including a rock jump into the white water. After completing this it's straight to the top of the river again for another race but this time in 2 man Hot Dog rafts.

Next, the greatest mental challenge of the weekend, cannoning. The first waterfall is 150 feet high with gushing ice cold water; this must be abseiled down before tackling 8 more waterfalls, 6 rock jumps and 4 naturally made water shoots. After 6 miles and 3 hours later this challenge will be complete.

Finally, 'The Belier', the most physical challenge of the weekend. When the clock strikes in the village square, runners will set off for the 17mile/27km run over the five mountain peaks that surround the village.

THE SAMARITANS

There are many people who are able to rely on friends and family for support through difficult times, however there are also many people who cannot, this is where an organisation like the Samaritans is vital for people who have no-one to turn to. Without their help it can lead to people living on the streets and even suicide because individuals are unable to work through conflicting issues. The Samaritans aim to benefit society by improving people's emotional health in order to create a greater sense of well being. Apart from being a 24-hour source of support on the telephone, by email, by letter or face to face, we also work in the local community, visiting work places and schools.

£5 means Samaritans can answer two calls for help

£10 every month means we could recruit and train a new volunteer

£15 every month, you could let Samaritans answer 5 emails

If you would like further information you can visit the Samaritans at http://www.samaritans.org
