As we approach Christmas, we ask that you give what you can, whatever it is, to help ensure that we can support the 1000 people who will have a spinal cord injury next year.
Sam's* story.....
At just seven years old, Sam* is paralysed from the chest down as the result of a car crash in 2008. Unlike other children of his age, Sam* can't kick a ball around the park, go for a bike ride or feel the sand between his toes on the beach.
Despite his devastating injuries, Back-Up is working together with Sam* and his father to ensure that Sam* can still fulfil his potential. After attending one of Back-Up's under13's course, the family now feel more positive about the future. Sam's* father commented "both myself and Sam* gained confidence and learnt lots of new skills."
Sam's* group leader on the course said "When I first met Sam* he was very withdrawn and reserved. But the change in him is unbelievable, he has grown so much in confidence. Going on a Back-Up course was a truly pivotal moment in Sam's* life and I'm proud to have been a part of this life-changing experience."
Last year The Back-Up Trust touched the lives of 1027 people with spinal cord injury, helping adults & children like Sam* to achieve what they never thought possible and face the future with confidence and hope. 2010 is going to be a tough year for Back-Up and we can't do what we do without your help.
