My story
Update January 2012
Well 6 months have passed and the weight loss continues - albeit Christmas and New Year got in the way a little!! Angus and Crispin have started well and are now trying hard not to put weight back on while Paul and Guy have had a slower start and are building up to the sprint down the home straight!
Big news - we have been joined by 3 more slimmers in the shape of Lee Moore (PC), Stuart Day (LACC) and Sarah Stacey (NATS Airports HR Director). As a result we have increased the combined target to 325 pounds of weight loss and £3250 to raise for Aerobility. Photos of our new compatriates will follow soon but please offer them your support and get donating!!
Finally, please take 10 mins to look at the following 2 links which will explain some of teh great work that Aerobility does:
Thank you for your support
June 2011
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Four members of Prospect ATCOs’ Branch have recently ‘weighed in’ with OHS at the start of a year long sponsored weight loss in support of The Big Pull.
The Big Pull has been inspired by The Pull for a Cure campaign which saw Canadian Air Traffic Controllers pull an aircraft for a mile to raise money for charity. Prospect ATCOs’ Branch have organised an aircraft pull at Goodwood race track on 3rd June 2012 and are aiming to raise £100, 000 in order to purchase a new aircraft for their chosen charity, Aerobility.
Aerobility enables handicapped and seriously ill adults and children the chance to experience the joy of flying, however ageing aircraft mean high maintenance costs and less airborne time. By securing Aerobility a brand new plane, we can ensure more people can benefit from the charity and less of their valuable sponsorship money is diverted to maintenance.
Paul Winstanley (Branch Chair), Angus MacCormick, (Vice Chair), Guy Allison (Chair Airports and Non Ops Section) and Crispin Mackay (Airport and Non Op Section rep on the BEC) were weighed with a total of over 1050 pounds. They have also had their measurements taken and cholesterol checked and will be receiving support from OHS over the next year as they seek to lose weight, nicknamed The Big Drop, while raising money for The Big Pull.
The aim is to lose a total of 250 pounds, that's an average of just over 4 stone each, and in the process raise 10 pounds per pound in order to give at least £2500 to The Big Pull. If you can donate a one off amount, or commit to a donation per pound lost, either for an individual or the whole team, then that would be fantastic.
This event is open to anyone who would like to lose a bit of weight and help us rasie money for The Big Pull, so if you fancy getting involved, please let us know and we can help you set you up your own JustGiving page linked to this one.
If you would like to donate to The Big Pull, you can find out how do so at www.thebigpull.co.uk where you can also find out further information about the big event itself as well as seeing what else is going on in support. You can also donate to The Big Drop team directly at on this JustGiving page. If you are a staff member of NATS you can also give tax efficiently via the Gift a Shift scheme - please talk to your local rep for details.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
