BUPA Great Manchester Run 2006 · 21 May 2006 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. The run is not long off now and Pete has been training hard. Some days are easier than others and this will be his first run. Heather has had problems with stiff joints so will most likely walk this race. But hey - it's the taking part that matters!

Why are we doing it? Well, we like trying to run of course. But more importantly we want to raise money for a cause close to our hearts. To read the full story, see Heather's page from last year's Great North Run. The Alzheimers society helps not just those with Alzheimers but those close to people who do as well. And they are there for those with other forms of dementia too. They aren't a big, 'fashionable' charity and they need every penny we can help raise.

Please, if you can, dig deep and sponsor us online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Please, sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
