THE COAST TO COAST CHALLENGE · 19 March 2008

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

At the end of May, my uncle Paul and I will attempt to mountain bike 140 miles across the breadth of Britain from the Irish Sea to the North Sea to raise money for the charity Headway. We¹ll go from Whitehaven on the West coast to Newcastle on the East - up, down and through a (hopefully) dry and sunny Lake District. Headway (http://www.headway.org.uk/) supports people who have suffered brain injuries including my Mum, Ruth, who had a stroke in 2005. Without the support of Headway life would have been a lot harder for all of us. The money we raise will go a long way to help other people who have suffered like my Mum. It is a fantastic charity, so please help us reach our ambitious target. If you are interested in the route that we will be taking, please look at the sea to sea website (http://www.c2c-guide.co.uk/index.htm).
