Mountain Challenge October 24th 2009 Can you believe Danny and I will be climbing Mount Caraiman in Romania to raise money for young people from a Lugoj orphanage, which I have visited often since I first went there when I was only six. Caraiman, stands above the town of Sinaia and at 2500 metres (twice the height of Ben Nevis) is one of the highest peaks in the Carpathians. 20 years on from the Romanian revolution, the orphans I first saw living in squalor have grown up, and in 2006 Epiphany Trust provided the ‘Arc’ a half way house to enable them take the next steps towards independent living. Now we are helping raise funds to build ‘Arc 2’ in Stuica, 8 kms from the Lugoj orphanage which, over the years, has been transformed beyond recognition by the generosity of the charity’s supporters.
