Thank you for visiting our justgiving page and for taking the first step to preventing scald injuries in children.

In the last year over 600 children have been treated at the St. Andrew's Centre for Burns and Plastics. The majority of these injuries were simple accidents that could potentially have been prevented. There has been no evidence to suggest that this number is decreasing.

The Cool Cubs Club Scald Prevention Campaign has been set up by myself, Jane Taylor, Kayleen Engelsman and Nakul Patel. We all work at the burns unit and have seen the devastating effect that a burn injury can cause to a child and their family.

The aim of the Cool Cubs is to provide education to the public to increase awareness on the dangers of hot liquids and what we can all do to be safer in the home or when out and about with our kids.

With the money that you can donate we will be able to develop our infomation leaflet that will be rolled out across St. Andrew's Centre catchment area and in the future hopefully nationwide. The leaflet is the top of the iceburg, we want to be able to visit schools, nurseries, libraries, mother and baby groups, prenatal and antenatal groups to provide education on limiting the risk of scalds, first aid and generally increasing awareness. We want to make this fun and interactive for the kids to keep them engaged and help them remember how they can be safer around hot liquids.

We have secured some initial funding to get the Cool Cubs started but we are now in need of further donations to sustain this campaign that we are all so passionate about.

So if you would like to help lower the number of children getting scald injuries then please please donate what you can, thank you!
