Baxters Loch Ness Marathon 2012 · 30 September 2012 ·

People who are deafblind have substantial visual and hearing loss which causes extreme difficulty with communication, information and mobility. We aim to raise aspirations and expand the lives of Deafblind people, some of the least visible and most isolated members of society.

Story

Marathon completed in 4 hours and 42 minutes. Was pretty grim from 19 miles onwards! A huge thanks to everyone has donated. All 3 of us are delighted with the amount raised.

For the past few months I have been working for the charity Deafblind Scotland. The charity supports people who have both visual and hearing impairments and live extremely challenging lives. On September 30th I will attempt to run one of the hardest marathons in the UK completely deafblind. I will wear a blindfold and ear defenders for the entire 26 miles leaving me without my sight or hearing. My pals Jamie and Don will make sure I don't run into bushes, the loch or a tree. Jamie and I have never even ran a half marathon before and will have had a total of 6 weeks training before the event. Please give a few quid and make our efforts worthwhile. Cheers!
