Cycle the Wight · 31 August 2007

For 31 years, Rainforest Concern has helped to protect more than 2.2 million hectares of native tropical forests and the vast biodiversity they contain. We have worked with 21 partner organisations and 8 indigenous groups in 12 different countries.

Story

Deforestation causes 25% of man-made co2 emissions.  We lose at least 37.5 million acres of old growth forest each year - an area the size of Georgia. Despite the relatively small land area they cover, rainforests are home to about half of the planet’s 5 to 10 million plant and animal species.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm participating in a cycling event around my home on the Isle of Wight and would like you guys to sponsor me so that we can raise money to help protect the rainforests.

The event involves cycling around the Island, a distance of 100km.  To give the event a bit more of a challenge I'm looking to complete the distance in under 4 hours.  If you think I can do it and would like to help protect arguably the worlds most valuable natural resource then please click the sponsor button now.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Rainforest Concern will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
