Further and Higher Education
The Field Centre will be a place for international further and higher education. Through partnerships with Crossfields Institute and affiliated organizations, Alanus University (Germany), Rudolf Steiner University College (Norway) and Rudolf Steiner College (USA), the Hiram Institute is currently building capacity to develop a series of further and higher education programmes.
Courses are already opening up to the general public and the overall aim is that the centre will be a platform for a diverse portfolio of subjects and learning models for students and researchers from all cultures and walks of life. The building method for the Field Centre expresses the genius of locality and activity, taking into account its placement in the landscape, taking its materials from its location and its inspiration from both the past activity leading up to the build and the future activity which will happen in the building itself. The building makes visible the relationship of the human being to nature, cosmos, earth, time and the dimensions of human working, translating these into the geometry of architecture.
This fantastic building is almost finished and we need your help to complete it.
We just need £243,000 to achieve our target of £1,200,000 to ensure that the Field Centre will be ready to welcome guests and students in the summer.
Funding has been raised through a combination of grants, donations and loans from organisations and individuals and we are enormously grateful to everyone who has contributed. £107,000 was raised by our recent fundraising event in August 2012.
