Debs' Final Countdown!

The Final Countdown! · 13 December 2015
As many of you know, my journey with myeloma started in 2009 when it turned our life upside down. However, after high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant in 2011, I have been lucky enough to see nearly 5 years of remission so far. And I hope to see a number more before a relapse - I have too much left to do in my life and with my lovely family.
I am very conscious of how lucky I am. I have seen many friends pass away from this terrible and incurable cancer and it is crucial that research is undertaken so that this cancer at the very least becomes a chronic condition rather than an incurable condition.
So many people have supported me over the past 5 years and helped me to raise over £115,000. But in 2017 I want to do one final push to reach £125,000...I am so close! I would love people to sponsor me....even just £1 makes a difference so please, please and thank you, thank you!
So far my plans have included:-
1. 2016 - Giving up crisps, sweets, chocolate, nuts and alcohol for Lent. My kids also did this and raised over £440! Amazing!
2. Doing the Windsor Colour Obstacle run in May. I haven't run for ages and have retwisted my foot so this will be a big challenge for me! UPDATE: Sadly I had to pull out if this as I broke my foot in February and was still out of action in May :-(. I hope to do another run later in the year.
3. Coffee Morning at Belbroughton Church Hall - Friday 18th November 9am - 12pm. Usborne books, Forever Living and a secondhand book and toy sale - everybody welcome. - Raised nearly £1,000
4. The Perfect Pair - A large cheese and wine evening held at the Hogarths Stone Manor in conjunction with Nickolls and Perks. This raised over £9,300!
Keep following this page to find out what my decisions are....or follow my blog at www.debsjourneywithmyeloma.wordpress.com.
If anyone fancies helping me by doing an event/ challenge on behalf of Myeloma UK, you can set up your own page, and link it to my team page at www.justgiving.com/teams/finalcountdown. I'm working on the basis that if I can persuade people to do events for the charity, who normally wouldn't, that can count towards my challenge!
Thanks tonnes! And don't forget to donate!
