The David Read Loch Ness Challenge · 26 March 2008

Bury Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of residents and their families across Bury. It will cost to run the Hospice this year £4.8million and we raise 83% of this total, but with the support of our community we continue to provide care and services to those who need it.

Story

The David Read Loch Ness Challenge is a memorial event, inspired by a determination that David made in the summer of 2006.

By the banks of Loch Ness, where his family had spent many happy holidays. David's wish was to canoe Loch Ness to raise money for Bury Hospice who provided such dedicated care throughout his battle with cancer.

Sadly, David died before he could fulfill his goal and it is his family who are now realising his wish.

The Challenge is a five part event. Participants have the choice of canoeing the full length of the Loch or to take part in either a challenging walk or cycle alongside the Loch or a family walk or cycle.

Myself, Liz, Mia & Cate are very proud to help and be a part of this event and to help raise money for Bury Hospice in the name of our friend David.
