My story

The Great Football Giveaway is a young charity that delivers footballs to the poorest kids living in rural Africa. Having visited Africa several times, watching the charity’s documentary about their first project in Malawi in 2006 completely blew us away. The simplicity of the charity is very appealing: a £10 donation buys 1 football. The charity ensures the balls end up in the hands of the poorest children and aims to make a difference in countries where there is suffering as well as working closely with educational projects such as HIV and malaria awareness to help ensure these children live longer, healthier lives.

Having been involved within sports for all of our lives, we can truly appreciate the positive impact that sport can have on people, whatever their background or circumstances. The charity’s mission is to utilise the power of sport to help draw kids off the streets, into education, unite war-torn communities and quite simply, put smiles back on their faces.

Our project will reach the rural area of Mbeya in Tanzania during July and August 2011. Our target is to deliver over 1,000 footballs and netballs. That’s where you come in – and thank you so much for your support. Getting more footballs into the hands of under privileged kids is the ultimate goal. The more money that is donated, the more footballs we will be able to deliver. Each ball will also be delivered with your name and any message. Please do donate generously and if you would like to get involved with the charity on any level, please let us know.

More balls, more smiles.
